A dish fit for the gods

Beetroot Power. Health promoting superfood.

Beetroots belong to the group of functional foods because of their indisputable health benefits. They are not only  high in inorganic nitrate content, but also high in amounts of phytochemical compounds, such as ascorbic acid, carotenoids, phenolic acids and flavonoids. Beetroots are cheap and easy to grow, as they need little water and light and don’t need soil rich in organic matter. They have a long history in folk medicine, date back to Roman times. Beets are still valued by modern pharmacology and natural medicine for their therapeutic properties.

Superfood that is cheap as chips, but will make you
look like a million dollars.

NOTE: Just remember to always consult your symptoms with your GP! Also, if you never drank raw beetroot juice or smoothies before, start it gradually and observe your body, because some people report sensitive stomach after drinking beetroot juice. Beetroot juice can colour your urine red. According to some sources it is a normal reaction, but some say that it indicates low levels of stomach acid or certain digestive enzymes!
